James, aka Hook, is a standout character. His complexity and moral ambiguity made him far more compelling than Wendy, who at times felt too innocent and whiny for my taste. However, by the end of the story, Wendy comes into her own, showing some much-needed growth and resilience. While we wished her character had been more dynamic throughout, the evolution of her relationship with James was still engaging.
The age gap, revenge plot, and mafia elements are all woven together seamlessly, making this book a captivating read for those who enjoy darker, more intense romances.
